After his return to Germany, he earned a doctorate of theology from Heidelberg University and was ordained in November 1957. He served as a parish pastor in Germany before taking a teaching position in Buenos Aires. Held became the president of the La Plata Evangelical Church until he returned to Germany in 1975.

An account of the resource
Heinz Joachim Held (b. 1928) was a German exchange student at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary for the academic year of 1952-1953. After his return to Germany, he earned a doctorate of theology from Heidelberg University and was ordained in November 1957. He served as a parish pastor in Germany before taking a teaching position in Buenos Aires. Held became the president of the La Plata Evangelical Church until he returned to Germany in 1975.

These slides depict Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, the University of Texas at Austin, Mo-Ranch, and Austin, Texas during 1952-1953. Also included are images of two parades: a University of Texas at Austin round-up and a celebration commemorating the inauguration of Governor Allan Shivers.
