In 1945 the Alumni Association and Board of Trustees of Austin Seminary established an annual series of lectures, bringing distinguished scholars to campus each year to address an annual mid-winter convocation of ministers, students, and members of the community on some phase of Christian thought. Information on the upcoming MidWinter Lectures can be found on the Austin Seminary website.

Austin Seminary has recordings of MidWinter lectures going back to 1960, originally captured by reel-to-reel recording equipment in the chapel. Use the links and tools below to explore the growing number of these lecture and sermon recordings that have been digitized and put online. Pre-2000s lectures are currently available on physical media at the Wright Learning and Information Center on the Austin Seminary campus. Although the annual lecture series started in 1945, not all of the lectures were recorded, and not all the recordings have been posted in the Digital Collections. The MidWinter Lectures are currently made up of three lecture series:

The Thomas White Currie Lectures were first held in 1952 and for many years the Tom Currie Bible Class of Highland Park Presbyterian Church of Dallas, Texas, sponsored this annual lectureship. In 2008 a generous gift from the Currie family established the Thomas White Currie Lectureship Endowed Fund, which will underwrite the lectureship in perpetuity. As part of this lectureship, the lecturer generally adapts their lectures into a published book.

The Robert F. Jones Lectures in Christian Education were established in 1949 by the Women of the Church of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Worth, Texas, in honor of Dr. Robert F. Jones, who was pastor of First Church from 1944-1978. These lectures are funded on an annual basis.

The E.C. Westervelt Lectures were established in 1949 by Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Flato of Corpus Christi, Texas, to honor her parents, and were later increased by the benevolent gift of Mr. Franklin Flato, son of Edwin Flato. Mr. Westervelt was involved in benevolent activities in South Texas and was especially interested in church extension in what was then Western Texas Presbytery.
